0% is Crossing the Ditch Something bold is about to arrive!
After a sell-out NZ debut, we're answering the call from Australian consumers.
You heard it here first. Yes, in response to many, many requests to bring Giesen 0% to Australia, it will finally be available to buy in Oz this month.
Our first ever alcohol-removed wine launched in New Zealand in February, and it was a sell-out. While we can reassure you that we won’t stop making the full-strength stuff any time soon, we were touched to receive some really lovely feedback. Here’s what some of our customers had to say:
“Wow, that is NOT a grape juice! That is a wonderfully smooth and dry Sav’ Blanc that so typifies the Marlborough region.”
“Just some feedback about your 0% alcohol Sav B. It is AMAZING. Thank you so much for producing a seriously flavoursome beverage that is 0%.”
“I tried it today and it is absolutely delicious, I think it’s a brilliant wine for the designated drivers etc. Can’t believe a non-alcoholic wine could taste this good. Well done”
“Good on you Giesen. Taste of savvy but far fewer calories and feel like you are still drinking your fave tipple without the after effects”
Because our alcohol-removed wine started life as a full-strength wine before we gently removed the alcohol, we’ve been able to preserve those fresh aromatics and crisp, clean flavours that Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is known for. This means you can expect crisp citrus notes and a uniquely dry finish.
So if that’s what our lovely customers had to say, did the critics agree?
New Zealand wine critic and Master of Wine Bob Campbell blind taste-tested the wine against two other no-alcohol Sauvignon Blanc wines and declared it “a giant leap forward for 0% alcohol Sauvignon Blanc.” He noted flavours of passionfruit and red capsicum, a pleasing sweet/sour tension, and the dryness typically associated with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. “This was my favourite out of the three… I’d very happily drink it,” he says.
Yvonne Lorkin of Dish Magazine praised the wine’s “real character and personality.” She tasted live on Instagram and commented “Nice acid… crisp… delish! It’s got a zesty lemon pith and limey note… I’d be quite happy to nurse a glass of this… anywhere, actually.”
Cuisine Magazine’s Mary-Therese Blair continued with the praise. “Light, refreshing, zingy… I’m really impressed with the palate weight. That’s pretty amazing. Well done Giesen! I shouldn’t be so surprised but… this is a big deal.”
