6x Trophies Clayvin Syrah 2021
We’re thrilled to announce that our 2021 Clayvin Syrah was awarded four trophies…..in one week! Taking our total Trophy haul for this wine up to 6 Trophies!
Scoring 96 points and awarded three trophies at the prestigious 2023 International Wine Challenge (IWC) in London. It was awarded:
🏆 International Syrah Trophy
🏆 New Zealand Red Trophy
🏆 New Zealand Syrah Trophy
Soon after, our 2021 Clayvin Syrah was awarded Champion Syrah at the New Zealand Organic Wine Awards.
🏆 Champion Syrah
The IWC is one of the world’s most reputable wine competitions. The judging process tastes every wine ‘blind’ and judges each for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage. The IWC judging teams include experts and influencers from the international wine industry, commercial decision makers, buyers and Masters of Wine working in unison to find the highest quality wines each year from the 52 wine-producing countries represented in the competition.
All wines which win a Gold Medal then transition to the Trophy tasting to determine the best of the best. Regional and National winners are awarded and then wines are retasted by the Co-Chairs of the Panels who award the Champion Wine Trophies.

Our Clayvin vineyard
Is the cornerstone of our premium wine programme. It is certified organic with BioGro New Zealand and is a north facing hillside vineyard. Nurtured with meticulous hands-on viticulture following biodynamic principles, with clay soils and varied root stocks. With 30+ year old vines, Clayvin is high density planted so reduces vigour and promotes root structure.
Our Syrah block is located at the top of the vineyard where warm daytime air masses help to ripen the grapes. Marlborough’s legendary cool nighttime temperatures aid acid reduction and classic Syrah varietal expression of black fruits, white pepper and spice, creating a wine with highly concentrated fruit with great structure, tannin and minerality.

2022 National Wine Awards of Aotearoa NZ – Syrah Trophy.
