New: Alcohol-Free* Wines – Rosé & Pinot Gris! 0% alcohol. 100% flavour.

We're proud to bring you the next wines in our sell-out alcohol-removed range - a crisp, refreshing Pinot Gris and a vibrant Rosé with the alcohol gently removed.

With avid devotees of Giesen 0% – Sauvignon Blanc selling us out across NZ and Australia, we’ve taken a giant leap and invested in innovative spinning cone technology so we can keep the 0% wines flowing. These brand new additions are sure to be a hit!

That’s right – we said additions, plural. After the limited-release launch of our alcohol-removed Pinot Gris at the beginning of July, we’ve done it again – and things are looking rosy.

Just like our sell-out alcohol-removed Sauvignon Blanc, we’ve gone through all the steps to make a premium New Zealand Pinot Gris before gently removing the alcohol using spinning cone technology. More on why that’s awesome in a moment!

This alcohol-removed Pinot Gris features delicate floral notes with white flowers, lychee, and red apple on the nose. The palate offers traditional Pinot Gris characters of apple and pear with just a touch of muscat grape. Light, delicious, and balanced between acidity and sweetness.

This wine was launched exclusively on our online store in New Zealand and is already sold out! You can learn more (and join our mailing list to hear when it hits the shops) on our online store.

That’s right – we’re bringing you not one, but two new options in case you’re staying dry this July!

This alcohol-removed New Zealand Rosé boasts delicious stone fruit aromas of white peach, apple, and fresh strawberries. Those apple and stone fruit notes linger on the palate alongside crisp cranberry flavours and a lively, refreshingly dry texture. A fresh addition to any dinner table or social gathering!

Just like our 0% Pinot Gris launch, those on our mailing list were first in the know so there was limited stock remaining when we launched to the public exclusively on our New Zealand online store. This is now sold out, but you can still sign up to stay in the know for future launches.

Let’s be fair – you’ve probably already heard about this one. We were so excited to release the world’s first alcohol-removed New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that we had sell-out launches in both New Zealand and Australia!

Experience delicate aromas of fresh lime, redcurrant, and lemon shortbread, delicious citrus flavours followed by distinct blackcurrant and passionfruit notes, and a crisp, dry finish.

With a new and improved blend and some fresh new packaging, this wine is available on our New Zealand online store, in all good supermarkets and liquor retailers, and even stocked in Australia and the USA.

With 40 years of winemaking expertise under our belts, we know how to make a great quality wine as our starting point! We craft a premium full-strength New Zealand Pinot Gris wine, then use innovative spinning cone technology to distill it into three parts – aroma, alcohol, and body. The aroma and the body of the wine are collected and recombined to make sure we have a varietally-expressive end product.

This is a bit different to other options on the market that use less gentle reverse osmosis methods, or those that don’t involve creating a wine at all, but taking those extra steps are important to us – it means we can make sure our final blend is as much like a real wine as possible!

Spinning cone technology is a form of distillation that’s popular in perfume making because it can handle delicate aromas with care. This means we can keep as much of the beautiful, varietally-expressive aromas as possible to recombine with the body of wine, with not more than 0.5% alcohol – about the same level as what naturally occurs in fruit juice!

While you may think the machine itself doesn’t look very exciting, we’re pretty pumped about what this means for the quality of our wines.

Number one, investing in this equipment onsite means that we have much greater capability to experiment with what makes a truly great alcohol-removed wine. That means making the best alcohol-free options we possibly can! And number two, one factor that makes for a really great dealcoholised wine is freshness. Our Chief Winemaker Duncan explains it best:

One key thing with 0% alcohol wines is that they are fresh! They’ve got to be made fresh, blended fresh and bottled fresh.  Having our own unit means we can keep a very tight timeline, bottling wines within just a few days of production. This lets us capture aroma in the bottle, producing more varietally expressive wines.

Our Chief Winemaker Duncan Shouler has given us the low down on how spinning cone technology works. Watch the video here:

We’ve been keeping our expert team hard at work, so we’re excited to present this next wine in our alcohol-removed range.

The wine was available exclusively on our New Zealand online store during the launch, with a strictly limited number of twin packs and cases to let our fans have first try. The Pinot Gris and Rosé are now sold out, but there are cases of our alcohol-removed Sauvignon Blanc still available – including free delivery to your door!

And as always, our online store is satisfaction guaranteed.

Please note delivery is available in New Zealand only. Stay tuned for international launches!

*Our alcohol-removed wines contain not more than 0.5% alcohol by volume. This is about the same as what naturally occurs in fruit juice! This is the standard that no alcohol wines must meet to be considered non-alcoholic under New Zealand and Australian law, but because this is still a wine, we don’t recommend it for anyone under the legal drinking age. Thanks for your understanding!
