Sauv Blanc Day Giesen Lend A Hand With NZ's First International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration

The International Sauvignon Blanc Celebration, known as Sauvignon 2016, is the first of its kind in New Zealand and starts on Monday 1 February running until late in the night of Wednesday 3 February 2016. The celebration is an opportunity for the New Zealand wine industry to host the world’s leading wine producers, experts, and key influencers and shine the spotlight on this diverse, expressive and sought-after variety.

Created to demonstrate the complexity of Sauvignon Blanc, emerging styles, vineyard practices and winemaking influences, there will be opportunities for guests to sample more than 200 different examples of Sauvignon Blanc from across the globe. Guests will also learn from experts in the fields of science, research, journalism, and gastronomy — all while experiencing Marlborough, New Zealand’s iconic home of Sauvignon Blanc.

Regarded as an innovative event, Sauvignon 2016 explores the variety and what makes it so distinctive, bringing the latest developments from the grass roots level.

Giesen have lent a helping hand in the development of this innovative event; our Brand and Hospitality Manager Roscoe Johanson is one of 10 members on the organising committee.

As part of the organising committee Roscoe has had a hand in all aspects of the planning, from shaping the programme by attracting interesting and engaging speakers to finding sponsors and helping manage the conference’s social media. Along the way, Roscoe has also liaised with a variety of industry and regional stakeholders, including New Zealand’s hottest chefs and suppliers who have designed a mouthwatering menu for the conference dinners. He’s also taken responsibility for a fun touch rugby game for international guests being played in the morning on Monday 1 February, ahead of the first session.
