With an increased consumer interest in lighter and no alcohol wines, we have responded to the growing mindful drinking trend by evolving our Pure Light range from 9% to 6% alcohol/volume. Released just in time for the summer months, wine lovers can now enjoy their New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris with 50% less alcohol*, without compromising on flavour. Plus, with 45% less calories than full-strength wine*, you really can have it all… with less.
Consumers across the world are looking for low and no alcohol options as healthier lifestyle options are considered. We’ve continued to evolve our range of wines to meet this demand, with a $1 million in-house spinning cone (the technology used to gently remove alcohol) to leverage. Having three years’ experience crafting the popular Giesen 0% range, the winemaking team are pioneering quality products in this space. It is this know-how that has enabled them to reduce the alcohol in Pure Light and not lose any of the flavour or aroma.
Our Chief Winemaker, Duncan Shouler noted “This is an exciting evolution for our Pure Light range, which we have been making for several years at 9% alcohol/volume. We’re doing things differently though. The wines are first crafted as classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, going through the same process as we make our full-strength wines. We then use our advanced spinning cone technology to delicately remove alcohol down to 6% alc/vol, leaving us with lower alcohol but maximum flavour. Many would fail to even know that the wine is lighter-in-alcohol given the aroma and palate are so similar – bursting with flavour Pure Light offers a distinctive Sauvignon Blanc and an aromatic Pinot Gris from New Zealand.”
The Pure Light 6% Sauvignon Blanc was awarded a bronze medal at the 2022 International Wine and Spirits Competition, judged alongside full-strength Sauvignon Blanc wines.
PURE LIGHT 6% NEW ZEALAND SAUVIGNON BLANC
Crisp and refreshing, expect pure tropical fruit and citrus flavours with nuances of freshly cut herbs from this wonderfully balanced, lighter-in-alcohol New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Only 48 calories per serving and 1.6g of sugar per 125ml glass.
PURE LIGHT 6% NEW ZEALAND PINOT GRIS
Delicate pear blossom aromatics with sweet spice. The palate is light yet textural, with flavours of quince paste and papaya. This lighter-in-alcohol Pinot Gris finishes fresh with balanced sweetness. Only 49 calories per serving and 1.9g of sugar per 125ml glass.

PURE LIGHT 6% NEW ZEALAND MERLOT
Ripe plum and blackberry notes combine with sweet baking spice and toasty notes on the nose. The palate displays layers of dark berry fruit and vanilla from French oak aging, supported by fine tannin which gives the wine structure and a long dry finish. Only 49 calories and 1.6g of sugar per 125ml glass.
