New Zealand Winery of the Year 2024 Giesen Group Shines at The Melbourne International Wine Competition - 2024 Competition Results

Giesen Group has done it again and received the prestigious New Zealand Winery of the Year award from the Melbourne International Wine Competition, in addition to 3 Double Golds and 9 Golds and Riesling of the year.

Giesen Group has once again been named New Zealand Winery of the Year at the prestigious Melbourne International Wine Competition (MIWC)  This is the third time we’ve taken out this title, winning it in 2021  and 2018 . Our 2019 Mosel Riesling was also named German Riesling of the Year.

Judged by a panel of top trade buyers, the Melbourne International Wine Competition is the wine show that reflects what consumers and wine drinkers enjoy. Now in its 12th year, the Competition’s judges are all wine buyers, sommeliers, hotel beverage directors, distributors, and importers; in other words, they are experts in what consumers want and help identify the wines they most enjoy. The panel tasted more than 1,000 wines from eight countries worldwide in over 50 categories to determine the highest-quality wines at the best prices.

Being awarded New Zealand Winery of the Year 2024 means it now has an official trophy to support what Australian wine lovers know – Giesen wines taste great and punch above their weight in value.

Giesen Director of Innovation Duncan Shouler noted, “These accolades speak to the quality of the wines in our range, across no-alcohol, low-alcohol, and full-strength wines. The team continue to work hard to make a wine for all occasions.”

Giesen Group is also the proud owner of Ara Wines. Ara’s popularity is reflected in the prestigious Double Gold awarded to the 2023 Ara Single Estate Sauvignon Blanc which received a double gold medal, along with two gold medals.
