Stump Creek Vineyard Wairau Valley

Stump Creek is the Marlborough home and hosting space of the Giesen brothers. Guests are commonly treated to decadent home-cooked food, a game on the miniature rugby pitch, or a dip in the swimming pool! Sauvignon Blanc from Stump Creek is known for citrus, tamarillo, and passionfruit notes, while older vines contribute great intensity.

Theo, Alex and Marcel love nothing more than hosting guests in their Stump Creek Vineyard home, displaying their culinary skills by cooking beautiful meals. Bring a rugby ball – there is a miniature rugby field out the back! Afterwards, you can cool off in the pool, ease any aches in the spa, walk in the vineyard, or enjoy the garden full of fruit and flowers – fresh figs, anyone?!

This 42 acre vineyard was planted in 1996 with Sauvignon Blanc & Gewurztraminer vines. The soil has good topsoil depth and is heavy with underlying clays. It’s 9km from the coast and 2km from Wairau River, and has good water holding capacity.

Controlling the amount of fruit produced on this vineyard means it delivers more citrus, tamarillo, and passionfruit flavours. Fruit from the older vines have great intensity.
