Certified by BioGro New Zealand, our Giesen Organic Syrah delivers an exceptional full-bodied wine.
It is our viticulture practice to use organic philosophy throughout all of our viticulture management on all of our vineyards, not just our certified organic vineyards.
We see organics as being about improving our soil structure and helping the soil to hold onto water and nutrients. If the land is continually replenished, the soil will be healthy, and so will the plants and fruit.
This limited edition organic Syrah is from the Southern Valleys in Marlborough, from high-density, certified organic vineyards.
Every attention is lavished upon our organic vines which are hand tended, picked and sorted.
An intriguing, elegant Syrah with violet floral on the nose, followed by layers of dark blackberries and juniper offset by earthy, smokey character framed by a dash of oak and spice.
We believe legacy is vital, so we aim to leave the land better than we found it. That’s why we're passionate about organics - as a means of improving the environment. And as an added bonus, the Giesen brothers are delighted by the quality of the grapes and the rich, intense wines resulting from our premium organic fruit.

We're sorry - this wine is no longer being made
Once fruit was gently de-stemmed, it was added to open top fermenters by gravity, cold soaked to allow the early development of colour and flavour prior to fermentation, delicate hand plunging of the ferments and 14 days maceration to maximise flavour.
After maceration, wine was gently pressed with free run wine aged in French oak 300L barrels for 12 months.
This organic wine then benefited from 24 months maturing in the Giesen cellar allowing the development of complexity and a silken palate.
