A generous and succulent Pinot Noir from the Southern Valleys in Marlborough. A representation of the best of the region and of each vintage year.
Fruit is harvested by hand from select vineyards throughout the Southern Valleys. The Southern Valleys region is renowned for growing Pinot Noir with great colour and excellent texture and ripeness.
On the nose enjoy aromas of currant, cherry, spice and charred wood. These give over to a generous palate with striking bramble and cedar notes which combine with fine grain tannin to focus to the finish.
Just as the three Giesen brothers journey bought them to New Zealand we travel to great lengths to find the best of every vintage. We strive to ensure The Brothers wines are rich and rewarding while retaining elegance and purity.
Marlborough - Southern Valleys
All the fruit for this wine is managed in small batches with a portion receiving whole bunch fermentation. Warm fermentation and minimal handling retain colour and allow the fruit to showcase distinct Marlborough Pinot Noir character.
Aged in a mix of new and used French oak 300L barrels. Oak comes from Giesen's French cooper, chosen because it gives a unique style which helps to lengthen the wine.
Minimal sulphur addition to help retain fruit purity and to allow the wine to age gracefully. Natural malolactic in barrel in springtime.

"2013 Vintage: This is a medium-bodied, silky rendering of Pinot Noir. Restrained aromas of cherries, dried herbs and vanilla lead into similar flavors, then pick up a touch of mocha on the long finish. Drink now–2020. March 2018"
"2013 Vintage: Grapes were sourced from Central Wairau and Southern Valleys for this tasty pinot. The fragrant bouquet shows red/dark cherry, clove, nutmeg and floral aromas with a touch of game complexity. It is succulent and plump on the palate, and delivers attractive fruit intensity as well as appealing savoury nuances. At its best: now to 2019."

"2013 Vintage: Charming, fresh and fruity bouquet with aromas and flavours of cherries and plums, some soft vanilla spice and mild oak tones, fine tannins add just enough mouth feel and acidity to engage the ideas of tension and a pause before showing off the flavours of red berries again. Balanced and well made. Drink now and through 2022. "
"2012 Vintage: Bright medium red. Perfumed aromas of strawberry, rose petal and spices. Juicy and intense, offering very good concentration to its brambly red berry and cherry flavors. Finishes with firm but smooth tannins and very good tactile persistence."
