Five Trophies in One Week!

Four Champion Trophies in one day, followed by another just days later. Five trophies in a single week, across three varietals.

Our Single Vineyard Clayvin wines and The Brothers Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc were recognised with Champion Trophies at leading New Zealand wine competitions, a reflection of the craft, care and conviction behind each release.

To see wines recognised across different styles and varietals in the same week speaks to the diversity of what we do at Giesen. From organic Chardonnay grown on clay-rich hillsides to a Marlborough Syrah challenging regional expectations, and a late harvest Sauvignon Blanc crafted with patience and precision, each wine tells a different story of place.

Chief Winemaker Duncan Shouler says the recognition reflects the strength of the team behind the wines.

“It’s not every day you see this kind of result across such different styles. It’s a real credit to the people in the vineyard and the winery who care deeply about every detail.”

Clayvin: depth and distinction

Certified organic, our Clayvin Chardonnay comes from a north-facing hillside vineyard in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys. Dense clay soils, varied rootstocks and high-density plantings of mature vines help produce fruit with concentration, structure and minerality. It is a site that rewards patience and precision.

Clayvin Syrah is equally distinctive. While Syrah is more commonly associated with warmer New Zealand regions, Clayvin demonstrates the depth and complexity the variety can achieve in Marlborough. The result is a wine with detail, structure and a strong sense of place.

The Brothers Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc

Sourced from the Wairau Valley, The Brothers Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes left longer on the vine to naturally concentrate sugars and flavour. As the berries dehydrate, they develop richness and intensity. The wine is crafted with a hands-on approach, including traditional techniques that honour the heritage of sweet wine production.
