The Brothers Sauvignon Blanc

This bold and expressive Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Awatere Valley in Marlborough, showcasing the very best of each vintage. Classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with tropical and stone fruit characters, blackcurrant, passionfruit and a crisp, dry finish.

For four decades, the Giesen brothers have created wines loved around the world. Just as their journey brought them from Germany to New Zealand, they continue to travel Marlborough’s sub-regions to source outstanding fruit for every vintage.

This wine is a blend of premium vineyard sites across the Awatere and Wairau Valleys. The 2023 season delivered favourable growing conditions, with rainfall reaching 95% of the long-term average. Moderate yields and dry harvest weather ensured fruit was picked at optimal ripeness. Cooler evenings supported slow flavour development and vibrant natural acidity.

Aromatic and expressive, the nose shows classic tropical and stone fruit characters layered with blackcurrant and passionfruit, alongside subtle flinty notes. The palate is generous yet refined, filled with stonefruit, tropical fruit and grapefruit, finishing crisp and dry.

Juice was fermented at moderate temperatures using a combination of classic Sauvignon Blanc yeasts. This ensured distinct varietal definition and fruit purity, and a textural palate. After fermentation the wine was left to mature in tank on light lees to ensure texture and complexity, before being racked, blended and filtered in preparation for bottling.

Reviews

Decanter World Wine Awards

"This youthful wine has plenty of spritz on entry. It is round, mellow, fulsome and attractive in its smoky pea and honeydew melon nuances."

International Wine Challenge 2018

"Passion fruit and tomato bud aromas, zesty, sweet fruit. Nice long textural finish. Gooseberries."
