Pure Light

Pure Light Pinot Gris

Fresh and inviting with delicate florals, juicy pear and ripe stone fruit. A silky, harmonious Pinot Gris in a lighter 6% style. 50% less alcohol, 45% less calories without compromising on flavour.

Giesen Pure Light Pinot Gris brings together fruit from Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough and Waipara to create a soft, balanced expression of this classic varietal. Marlborough provides aromatic lift, Waipara adds richness and structure, while Hawke’s Bay contributes ripe stone fruit and a rounded palate.

Lifted floral notes lead into flavours of pear and ripe stonefruit. Silky and harmonious, with gentle fruit sweetness balanced by freshness, it finishes soft and smooth. Elegant and easy-drinking, yet unmistakably Pinot Gris.

We begin by crafting premium, full-strength New Zealand Pinot Gris. A portion of the finished wine is then gently de-alcoholised using spinning cone technology, preserving the wine’s natural aromatics and flavour profile. This portion is reintegrated with its full-strength counterpart to achieve balance and mouthfeel. The result is a rounded, expressive 6% alc./vol. Pinot Gris that maintains flavour intensity while offering a lighter alcohol option.

Cameron Douglas87 Points, Master Sommelier

"Aromas and flavours of green pear and red apple, with very light white spice notes and a lick of lees. An off-dry expression, balanced by acidity and youthful fruit qualities. Best drinking well chilled from day of purchase through 2028."

"This is fresh and inviting on the nose with peach, ripe pear, fig and floral aromas, followed by a light and refreshing palate offering fine texture and crisp acidity. Elegant and soft-toned for delightful drinking. At its best: now to 2024."
