0% Merlot

Soft, fruit-driven and beautifully structured with crushed blackberry, plum and subtle toasted oak. Classic Merlot character. Only with the alcohol gently removed.

Giesen 0% Merlot begins with premium, full-strength New Zealand red wine crafted to retain varietal depth and structure. Delicate aromas of crushed blackberry and wild herbs lead into a palate of red berries and ripe plum, balanced by subtle toasted oak. Fine, powdery tannins provide gentle structure, finishing smooth and refreshing. A lighter style red that still feels complete in the glass.

We start by crafting premium, full-strength New Zealand red wine. Using innovative spinning cone technology, the wine is gently separated into aroma, alcohol and body.

The delicate aromatics are carefully recombined with the body of the wine, with a small addition of premium grape juice concentrate to achieve balance and texture. The result is a refreshing, delicious alcohol-removed Merlot with low calories and classic varietal character.

"Great colour and brightness, with aromas and flavours of Doris plums and boysenberry. This drink reminds me of ‘old school’ red grape juice drinks that tick the boxes of flavour and refreshment, and this beverage does just that. No wood, super-fine fruit tannins with a light dusty quality, and just the right level of acidity and length. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2028."

"The Giesen 0% Merlot scores an 8.4/10 with its warm, toasty oak filled & round profile that is built around sophisticated spice, dark blackberries, plum & a long tannin led finish that completes the mouthfeel well. An inside tip is that this really opens up after being aired in your glass or on the second day after opening."

"The Giesen 0% Merlot lands smack dab where it should be on the taste scale. It’s soft, buttery, tannic with a great balance of acidity. There’s plum and cherry and a beautiful dark burgundy look to it. With wines like this you are missing nothing by removing alcohol! This one will be going straight to the top of the list come red wine season!"
