How do we make alcohol-removed wine?

The process begins with our premium full-strength wines. We don’t cut any corners here and use the same quality wine that we sell as our full-strength Estate wines.

We use innovative spinning cone technology to distil this full-strength wine into three parts – aroma, alcohol, and body. We use the body of the wine and the aroma with just a touch of premium grape juice to produce non-alcoholic wines with balanced flavours.

Our process is a bit different to other options on the market that can use more aggressive reverse osmosis methods or don’t involve creating a wine at all. But taking those extra steps is important to us as it means we can create a final blend that is as much like a real wine as possible.

What is a spinning cone?

Spinning cone technology is a form of distillation that’s popular in perfume making because it can handle delicate aromas with care. This means we can keep as much of the beautiful, varietally expressive aromas as possible to recombine with the body of wine, while successfully removing the alcohol. The final result never has more than 0.5% alcohol – about the same level as what naturally occurs in fruit juice!

Having our own spinning cone onsite means our ability to experiment with the process and produce truly great alcohol-removed wine. It also allows our winemaking team to work with incredibly fresh wines for the best possible non-alcoholic wines.

“One key thing with 0% alcohol wines is that they are fresh! They’ve got to be made fresh, blended fresh and bottled fresh. Having our own spinning cone means we bottle wines within just a few days of being distilled, allowing us to capture the true aroma and produce more varietally expressive wines.”
