A delicious, award-winning Pinot Gris using fruit from Marlborough, Waipara and Hawke's Bay wine regions.
The saying by Aristotle ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’ is the perfect descriptor for our Giesen Estate Pinot Gris.
Since the recent release of 2017 vintage, this wine has already won a Trophy & two Gold medals.
We select fruit from vineyards in the Marlborough, Waipara and Hawke’s Bay wine regions.
Fruit from Marlborough adds acidity to the wine, Hawke’s Bay gives stone fruit flavours, Waipara delivers beautiful aromatics, blossom.
This Pinot Gris entices you with fresh pear, peach, nuances of almond meal. Rich fruit with a touch of creaminess and subtle spice leads into a lively, off-dry finish.
Great wines are the ones we remember sharing with family and friends - that’s why we created Giesen Estate. Our Estate wines showcase distinctive regional varieties which are generous, smooth, relaxing and most of all, taste great!
New Zealand - Marlborough, Waipara, Hawke's Bay
Each parcel of Pinot Gris is harvested at optimum ripeness.
Fermented in stainless steel tanks we use very select aromatic yeasts to make the wine more intense. We stop ferment early to retain a small amount of acidity and natural sugar to give the wine it's off-dryness.
The wine is held on lees for 3-4 months to help build mouth feel & texture, then blended and bottled.
Giesen Estate Pinot Gris 2017 has been awarded the Champion Pinot Gris Trophy at New Zealand's Royal Easter Wine Show. The trophy further cements Giesen Wines as one of New Zealand’s premiere aromatic winemakers.Read more

"Delightfully ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows apricot, fresh pear, white floral and lemon peel aromas, leading to a succulent palate displaying elegant weight and rounded mouthfeel. It's juicy and flavoursome with a lingering silky finish. At its best: now to 2022.

"2016 Vintage: Fresh, crisp and lively white fruits bouquet with crunchy red apple and pear, a touch of smoky pepper adds some initial complexity; overall fresh fruity and inviting. On the palate – off dry with just a little residual sweetness, plenty of fleshy white fruit flavours and acidity to match; young, easy to drink and destined to match many salad or seafood dishes; lovely balance and finish. "Champion Pinot Gris Trophy Winner: Mid straw colour with the aroma brimming of ripe pear and citrus notes. An harmonious palate, honeydew and pears predominate with lovely citrus and acidity completing the finish. Well textured and lingering."
