Pinot Gris

A delicious, award-winning Pinot Gris using fruit from Marlborough and Waipara wine regions.

For our Giesen Estate Pinot Gris we select fruit from vineyards in the Marlborough and Waipara wine regions.

Fruit from Marlborough adds acidity to the wine and Waipara delivers beautiful aromatics, blossom.

This Pinot Gris entices you with fresh pear, peach, nuances of almond meal. Rich fruit with a touch of creaminess and subtle spice leads into a lively, off-dry finish.

Giesen Estate

Great wines are the ones we remember sharing with family and friends - that’s why we created Giesen Estate. Our Estate wines showcase distinctive regional varieties which are generous, smooth, relaxing and most of all, taste great!

Vineyard

New Zealand - Marlborough, Waipara, Hawke's Bay

Winemaking

Each parcel of Pinot Gris is harvested at optimum ripeness.

Fermented in stainless steel tanks we use very select aromatic yeasts to make the wine more intense. We stop ferment early to retain a small amount of acidity and natural sugar to give the wine it's off-dryness.

The wine is held on lees for 3-4 months to help build mouth feel & texture, then blended and bottled.

"Delightfully ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows apricot, fresh pear, white floral and lemon peel aromas, leading to a succulent palate displaying elegant weight and rounded mouthfeel. It's juicy and flavoursome with a lingering silky finish. At its best: now to 2022.

Decanter World Wine Awards

"2016 Vintage: Fresh, crisp and lively white fruits bouquet with crunchy red apple and pear, a touch of smoky pepper adds some initial complexity; overall fresh fruity and inviting. On the palate – off dry with just a little residual sweetness, plenty of fleshy white fruit flavours and acidity to match; young, easy to drink and destined to match many salad or seafood dishes; lovely balance and finish. "

Cameron Douglas Master Sommelier

"Champion Pinot Gris Trophy Winner: Mid straw colour with the aroma brimming of ripe pear and citrus notes. An harmonious palate, honeydew and pears predominate with lovely citrus and acidity completing the finish. Well textured and lingering."
