The Giesen Estate Riesling is New Zealand’s most popular Riesling and consistently wins awards each vintage year.

A vivacious Riesling with succulent citrus blossom, alluring lime and sweet mandarin with a delightfully crisp, refreshing off-dry finish.

This Riesling brings together outstanding fruit from two of New Zealand’s preeminent Riesling areas – Marlborough & Waipara.

The fruit selected from Marlborough adds a textural element, richness, citrus flavours and ageability to the wine. Waipara gives us our fabulous floral aromatics.

There is a reason this is New Zealand’s favourite Riesling – try it for yourself.

Giesen Estate

Great wines are the ones we remember from fun experiences with family and friends, that’s why we created Giesen Estate. Our Estate wines showcase distinctive regional varieties which are generous, smooth, relaxing and most of all taste great.

Marlborough & Waipara

This Riesling is lighter in alcohol at 10% alc/vol.

We use a selection of different yeasts to amplify the regional characteristics of the Marlborough portion of the blend.

Our winemakers taste each parcel daily and stop the ferment when the wine is in balance and the aromas of spice & exotic tropical notes are present.

Stopping the ferment early also leaves behind some natural sugar hence the beautiful off-dry component of the wine.

The Riesling is kept on light lees until bottling.

"2017 Vintage: Fantastic bouquet of Riesling with crisp green and red apple, freshly squeezed citrus juices, blossoms and wet stone mineral notes. The lower alcohol highlights some sweetness and the acid line adds a razor sharp texture through the palate. Flavours of green apple and honeysuckle emerge contrasted by a gentle sweetness. Drink now and through 2028."

Cameron Douglas - NZ Master Sommelier

"2015 Vintage: A fabulous riesling with appetising freshness and vibrancy, the bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, rockmelon, apple blossom and lemon curd characters. The palate is succulent and delicious, and delivers excellent varietal purity, wonderfully enhanced by gentle sweetness and bright acidity. Lovely harmony and balance. At its best: now to 2020. 93pts"

Sam Kim - Wine Orbit

"The 2015 vintage is a low-alcohol (10%), medium-sweet style (44 grams/litre of residual sugar). Grown in Marlborough and Waipara, it is fresh and vibrantly fruity, with crisp, citrusy flavours, showing good intensity. A poised, vivacious wine, it's a drink-now or cellaring proposition"

Michael Cooper, Buyer Guide 2016

"2015 Vintage: Enticing aromas of citrus and tree fruits, sweet flowers, honeysuckle and mandarin. On the palate - off dry style with light sweetness; flavours of Meyer lemon, mandarin, a touch of lime and apple; fresh and vibrant acidity, lovely balance and length. Enjoy now and through 2024. 94 Points."

Cameron Douglas - NZ Master Sommelier

"2015 Vintage: Delicious and inviting bouquet of white peach, mandarin and limeflower, green apple and citrus - rather giving. On the palate - off dry, juicy fleshy and delicious - flavours reflect the bouquet with pristine acidity, just enough weight and texture adding substance and finish. Drink now and through 2019."
