Pure Light Introducing Giesen Pure Light
What is Pure Light?
The Giesen Wines team are beaming with pride as we introduce our latest innovation, Pure Light Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. Pure Light are naturally made, great tasting wines from the renowned Marlborough region that radiate good vibes and the promise of sunshine in a bottle. It gets even better – these wines deliver full-on flavour while being lighter in alcohol. Pure. Light. See what we did there?
How light are we talking, and Why?
As the new year approaches, our thoughts turn to living our best lives which means enjoying a balanced lifestyle. Wines made with lighter alcohol mean you can savour the moment with a glass of premium wine without feeling like you’ve broken your health resolutions!
At 9% and 9.5% alc/vol respectively, Pure Light Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc are each 25% naturally lighter in alcohol compared to our standard Giesen Estate wines.
What does it taste like?
The beauty of dry wines made from what winemakers call “aromatic” grapes is that you can trick your senses by indulging in sweet, fruity flavours without all the actual sugar.
Pure Light Sauvignon Blanc is a bright, exciting expression of Marlborough that offers layers of tropical fruits balanced by refreshing citrus. “Refreshing” is winemaker speak meaning the wine has nice acidity that tastes great with seafood and creamy or fried dishes.
Equally delicious, Pure Light Pinot Gris radiates aromas of delicate pear and sweet spice with vibrant flavours of quince paste and papaya. Looking for a wine that drinks beautifully on its own and pairs well with nearly any food? Not any more– you’ve found it.
How is PURE LIGHT made?
You might be wondering how it’s possible to actually make a wine that’s lighter in alcohol but still packs a punch of intense Marlborough flavour. In a word, nature.
Our expert viticulture and winemaking teams work together to engineer the perfect fruit for making light-alcohol wine. It all starts with our stony soil that helps produce fruit with fresh, vibrant flavours—this is what makes Marlborough wines so special.
These grapes are harvested early, before they sweeten on the vines. The harvested grapes are brought to our winery and pressed into juice with less sugar but full flavour. From there, our Chief Winemaker Nikolai St George crafts each wine into a gorgeous expression of the Marlborough terroir, or the special environmental conditions that make our wine unique.
As you can tell, we put a lot of care and thought into ensuring each bottle of Pure Light is just right
