Vineyard Selection

Vineyard Selection Pinot Noir

Giesen Vineyard Selection represents a diverse range of soil types and micro-climates, each contributing individual characteristics to the wines. Striking red cherry and bramble fruit with lifted florals and spice. Fine tannins and a crisp backbone deliver a smooth, generous Pinot Noir.

Sourced from the Wairau and Southern Valleys of Marlborough, this Pinot Noir reflects favourable seasonal conditions. Rainfall reached 95% of the long-term average, supporting healthy vine growth. Moderate yields and dry harvest conditions ensured fruit was picked at optimal ripeness.

Cooler conditions supported acid retention and colour development, while slow ripening contributed to classic cherry and red fruit characters with rich, supple tannins.

The wine is vibrant and expressive, with red cherry, bramble fruit and subtle spice layered over fine tannins and a balanced structure.

Fruit was crushed and cold-soaked for four to six days before fermentation on skins for 16 to 29 days. Ferments were managed gently to avoid over-extraction, creating a soft, refined style. Yeast strains capable of handling higher fermentation temperatures were selected to stabilise colour and heighten flavour while maintaining balance.

The wine was matured on French oak for eight months to build texture and complexity before bottling.
