Southern Valleys, Marlborough
We pay particular attention to detail in our Uncharted wines, hand-picking only small premium parcels of fruit from two blocks in our Southern Valleys vineyards with heavier soils. This adds texture and subtle flint notes, and ensures an intense and distinctive flavour profile that characterises the Southern Valleys subregion. The fruit was hand sorted in the vineyard to select only perfect bunches.
Our premium fruit is hand-harvested, destemmed and transferred to gravity-fed open top fermenters. Our winemakers handle each batch with care, with a portion receiving whole bunch fermentation.
After cold soaking, a warm ferment was used retain the wine's beautiful colour, and showcase distinct Marlborough Pinot Noir character. The wine is then aged in a selection of new and used French oak hogshead barrels, with natural malolactic fermentation occurring in the barrel.

"Ripe, varietal, dense, fruity and most importantly - pinosity - a bouquet with scents of red berries and dark roses, fine baking spice layers and mild toasty wood complexity. On the palate - equally appealing with flavours of raspberry and dark cherry, a touch of dried herb then toasty oak spices of vanilla and a touch of clove. Medium+ acidity, firm-ish youthful tannins, balanced alcohol, complex and lengthy, A well made wine ready to enjoy from 2021 through 2026+

"Pristine and gorgeously inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, spiced cherry, olive and roasted nut aromas. It's equally attractive on the palate, displaying fleshy texture and silky tannins, making it comforting and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2025.

"From grapes grown in the Southern Valleys subregion. Reasonably deep-tinted Pinot Noir with dark-fleshed plum, dark cherry, cassis, grape stems. Fine peppery tannins give structure without making the wine at all inaccessible. A smart Pinot with character.

The fruit is succulent, nuances of earth, liquorice provide a savoury balance and interest, broaden the palate. The finish is bright with vitality, supported by integrated acid. Fine-grained, velvety tannin form a fine structure, along with subtle barrel smokiness, lends an elegant, sustained finish.
